Juicing your way to acne free skin

Two of the biggest obstacles you will need to overcome when trying to cure your acne is removing toxins from your blood and decreasing your body’s water retention.

Both of these can be achieved with juicing.

You get acne when your pores get blocked. Bacterial, oil, dead skin cells and toxins get trapped inside the blocked pores which cause an inflammatory response which gives you red, raised acne.

Excess toxins in the body and water retention both can cause your pores to be clogged up. One of the safest, natural and most effective ways to deal with these problems are with fresh fruit and vegetable juices.

Juicing is extracting the vital vitamins, minerals, amino acids and enzymes of fruit and vegetables and discarding the fiber. By removing fiber, the juice is able to be quickly absorbed into the body and be put to maximum use in the body.

When you eat whole fruit and vegetables, it can take up to several hours of digestion before beneficial nutrients enter the bloodstream. Alot of the enzymes and other nutrients are also used up or destroyed by digestion. Juicing maximizes nutrient uptake and maximizes the health effect.

The first juices we will take a look at are juices that are good for cleaning the body, blood and lymph of toxins. Large amounts of toxins in the body is known as toxemia. Toxemia is poisoning of the body by over retention of body waste or from the the by-products of metabolism or digestion.

The main vegetable juice many consider the "master juice" that can be used as a base for any combination of vegetable juices is carrot juice. It should be noted at this point that vegetable and fruit juices should not be mixed and should be taken a minimum of an hour apart.

Carrot juice is an excellent blood cleanser and helps to clear and beautify the skin. Being an alkalizer, it helps to clear acidic conditions in the body. One of the toxic conditions that cause acne is known as acidosis. Acidosis is simply, an excess of acid in the body tissue and in the blood. One of the symptoms of acidosis is when the body tries to eliminate impurities through the skin which we saw earlier, was a cause of acne.

Cucumber juice is known as a natural diuretic. It also assists carrot juice in expulsing of toxins, salt, and excess water. When your water tension is released, the pressure on the skin cells is also released which was causing pressure on your pores and making them close up.

Together, carrot and cucumber juice mixed and drunk several times a day are an excellent weapon against acne.

6 Steps to Clear, Acne-Free Skin

Hundreds of medications, treatments, cleansers and cosmetics are available for people with acne, but the most important elements of an acne-fighting program won’t cost you a cent.

1. Nourish your skin by eating a healthy and balanced diet.

Most health care specialists agree that a healthy diet will benefit your skin. Cut down on caffeine, sugar and refined carbohydrates, all of which can activate the hormones that tell your sebaceous glands to produce more oil. Add more fruits, vegetables, seeds, nuts, juices and other healthy treats to your daily diet, and you’ll see in improvement in your sTambah Gambarkin.

2. Drink lots of water to maintain the skin's elasticity.

Plenty of water is essential to the health of your skin. One of the main activities of the body’s self-healing system is to filter the blood, a job performed mostly by the kidneys, with help from the skin in the form of perspiration. This self-healing system removes the toxic wastes of metabolizing food and of other harmful substances that get into our bodies one way or another.

This purification system operates efficiently only if the volume of water flowing through it is sufficient to carry away the wastes. 6 to 8 glasses (64 fluid ounces) of water a day is the recommendation. To reach your quota, carry bottled water with you in your car, your purse, your briefcase—wherever you go.

Get the water habit, and your skin will thank you for it.

3. Exercise regularly for good circulation.

Get into a regular routine of exercise. Do it for at least half an hour, five days a week. Exercise improves your blood circulation, helping your body clear toxins from your system, including your skin. Better circulation also increases the delivery of oxygen and nutrients to your skin. Exercise also relieves stress, which is a common cause of acne flare-ups. Last but not least, exercise releases endorphins, the "feel good" substance in your brain that puts a smile on your face—the best beauty secret of all.

4. Cleanse your face—then tone, moisturize, and exfoliate.

At night
* First remove your makeup with an oil-free makeup remover and a cotton ball.
* Then wash your face with lukewarm water and an oil-free, non-comedogenic (doesn’t block pores) cleanser.
* Pat (don’t rub) it dry with a soft towel.
* And apply an oil-free moisturizer.

In the morning
* Wash your face as directed above, then use an alcohol-free toner.
* Next apply moisturizer.
* Then apply makeup—all oil-free and non-comedogenic.

Once or twice a week use an exfoliator with alpha hydroxy acid or glycolic acid. This will aid in the shedding of dead skin cells, the “food” for the bacteria that cause pimples.

If you exercise during the day, you’ll need to wash your face a third time, immediately afterward.

5. Protect your skin from the sun and harsh weather.

One popular myth about acne is that tanning will clear it. It may seem so at first, but soon you will notice that your tanned skin becomes less pliable, making it less able to shed oil and dead skin cells, which clog your pores. Your acne will become worse, not better.

Always wear sun block with at least an SPF-15 UVA & UVB rating. If you’ll be outside in the sun for long, wear a wide-brimmed hat.

6. Get plenty of good-quality rest.

Your immune system requires energy to do its work, including the work of protecting your skin from acne. The deep sleep the brain needs for “recharging” comes several hours into the sleep cycle. That’s why a few hours here and there won’t do. Most people need at least 6 to 8 hours of sleep a night. Consider it beauty sleep.

If you make these 6 items part of your daily routine, you’ll look better, feel better, and have less need of expensive acne treatments and cosmetics.

Acne Treatment for Teenagers

Acne is a very troubling condition for those that suffer from it. When a person suffers from facial acne there is no hiding it and when acne is drawn out over a long time it can have damaging effects on the self-esteem of those that are struggling with it. Acne is not the hopeless skin disease that it once was, there is treatment for almost all types of acne. It is very important to learn as much information as possible about acne and to know what help and what treatments are available.

There are many types of acne all with varying levels of severity. Cystic acne is one of the most severe forms of acne. It can be painful and it can also lead to troublesome scarring. As much as possible, it is best to seek treatment for acne way before it ever reaches the level of cysts and nodules. However, if for some reason that has not been possible, aggressive treatment will be necessary to halt any further progression. The first step in gaining control of severe acne is to make an appointment with a doctor or dermatologist.

Acne cysts are larger than your average pimple or blackhead. A person that suffers from cystic acne is likely to have acne spots spread over fifty percent or more of their face and they are also likely to suffer some degree of pain. Acne cysts are usually more 5 millimeters in diameter and are formed when pockets of pus are trapped just below the surface of the skin. What makes these spots extremely frustrating for those that have them is that they can last for months without going away.

Although it is great to understand what is happening with your skin, for most people the most valuable information is how to solve the problem. Most people simply want a cure, a cure that works. First, let us talk about what should not be done. Under no circumstances should a person struggling with cystic acne try to squeeze or burst a cyst. This can have detrimental consequences. Often, this will serve only to make any infection deeper, causing the cyst to take longer to heal than if left alone.

Unfortunately, no simple, catch-all cure exists for acne, especially severe acne. Doctors do have methods to help prevent scarring, which is one of the reasons that any treatment that you undertake be done with advice from your doctor. Most people find that they have to try several types of treatment or combinations of treatments before they are able to hit upon a solution. More often than not, it is a combination of treatments that do the trick.

Simple Acne Alternative Treatments

There are several acne alternative treatments that can help impede or even cure acne. The Chinese believe that acne is caused by toxicity and heat in the blood stream. Some view acne as a digestive problem where the poisons from poor digestion are discharged into the skin.; One of the most elemental alternative acne treatments is to consume a low fat diet, maintain proper hygiene, and eat proper vitamins. Saturated fat intake should be kept to a minimum, as they can damage the tissue of the body, and also induce inflammation.

It has also be proposed to abstain from foods that may cause heat to build up in the body, like garlic, coffee, or spicy foods. Plenty of Vitamin A should be consumed, as it is essential for healthy skin. Zinc is also important as it helps heal the skin, and reduces hormonal imbalances. Omega-3 fatty acids are essential as they maintain cell membranes and aid in the transport of nutrients to the cells. Acidophilus capsules may be used to help with digestion. Daily bowl movements are important so a high fiber diet should be adhered to. For acne that is cause by menstruation Vitamin B-6 is important as it can help regularly maintain the proper metabolism of the increased release of hormones.

Some acne alternative treatments that may be applied directly to the skin include a honey facial. This is done by putting uncooked honey onto ones face and leaving it on the skin for five to ten minutes. Honey is said to revitalize the skin. Alternately tea tree oil may be applied to the skin. This has been said to impede bacteria from growing on the skin. Exfoliants may be used to treat acne and pimples. Glycolic acid and lactic acid are alpha-hydroxyl acids that are found in citrus fruits. It is suggested that they lessen dead skin cells from building up. Therefore lemon juice can be mixed with water and applied to the face. The juice should be allowed to dry on the skin for up to ten minutes and then is should be rinsed off. If one has sensitive skin more water may be required to the blend so the individual doesn't experience too much of a "burning" sensation.

Herbalists have their own concoctions to use as pimple alternative treatments. They suggest evening primrose oil, or black current seed oil capsules. Alternatively some recommend teas with Echinacea or goldenseal. Exercise and relaxation are also important alternative treatments for acne, as the body needs to be at its peak. While alternative acne treatments are controversial, especially with doctors, their success depends highly on the individual and the degree of acne they are suffering from.

Collagen For Acne Scars

I know what it's like to have acne scarring and how damaging it can be to your self confidence; as a long time acne sufferer years ago, I battled not only acne itself but the scarring that has formed as a result. It's pleasing to know, however, that there are a multitude of different ways to cure or at least drastically improve acne scars that each have a high success percentage.

What Scar Type Do You have?

If you have depressed scarring then you can benefit from collagen injections to raise the atrophic levels of the skin so that the surface is flat. For hypertrophic conditions such as Keloid acne scars, collagen is not the right treatment for you.

How does it work?

Collagen acts as an injectable filler that raises the level of the depressed tissue so that the surface is smooth. The effect of this is a massive improvement in aesthetics with scar notice-ability reducing significantly.

This technique is best used with scars that are not very deep but numerous.

How long does it last for?

Unfortunately this solution to scarring isn't permanent and you can expect the benefits of the injections to last roughly 9 months to a year before more injections will be required.

How much does it cost?

In comparison to other scarring treatments, collagen injections are very cheap. You can expect to pay around $125 for a series of injections.

Limitations

Deep ice pick scars do not do well with collagen injections, a better treatment for this type of scar would be something like chemical peels, dermabrasion or laser resurfacing.

Let's face it; many people today are trying to weed through the mass of information that is out there to find the best treatment for acne scars. It's a top priority and it can make a big difference in the quality of your life.

With so many different options out there you'll need to learn how to pick out the one that best matches your individual needs.

To begin with, it's important to understand why finding an acne scar treatment is so important. For people who don't have the problem they may not understand what the big deal is. However, if it's something that you are currently dealing with or have dealt with in the past then you know how crucial this can be, and how sensitive the topic is.

Acne scars can end up defining your face and becoming prominent features. They are one of the first things that people notice when they see you, and you become known as that guy or that girl with the acne scars. Therefore, not only does it disrupt your physical appearance but it also leads to emotional and mental problems as well.

Your self esteem and self confidence can both be taken down a few notches by having this worry all of the time. In extreme cases people can even become depressed or withdrawn socially as a result. You don't want this to end up happening to you, so it's time to find the best treatment for acne scars that you can.

It is true that there are many effective medical and surgical procedures available today.

For example, dermabrasion basically scrapes off the scars at high speeds while you're under a local anaesthetic. There are also laser treatment options that can be performed.

The problem with both of these is that they will cost you lots of money, upwards of thousands of dollars per treatment, and they can also be a hassle to go through. Other choices include collagen or saline injections.

The problem with these is again the price. Additionally, you will need to receive multiple, ongoing treatments and therefore will never have a permanent solution. More acne scar treatment options include chemical peels, which are expensive and not always effective, and skin grafting which is an intense procedure usually left for extreme cases.

A great alternative to the above is skin needling with a scientia derma roller. First of all it's extremely cheap compared to the other methods. Additionally, it can be performed by yourself from your own home, meaning no complicated surgical or medical procedures or anything else. Plus, you get real results that show up quickly and last over the long haul.

Depending on the types of acne scars that you have and other specific circumstances, you'll see that not everyone agrees on the same solutions. However, most people find that one of the best treatments for acne scars options available today is at-home skin needling via a scientia derma roller. You'll save yourself loads of money and tons of headaches, and the results will speak for themselves.

Top 2 Natural Remedies For Acne

If you are looking for natural remedies for acne, then I suggest that you finish reading this article. I, too, had problems with acne that didn't seem to go away. I wanted an instant cure, but I later discovered that I would have to develop some sort of regiment for myself in order to get rid of my zits forever. I will outline some of my favorite natural ways to treat your acne :

1) Using mint as an acne treatment :

Some people feel that spearmint is better for treating pimples, but I feel that that using a medicinal herb that is menthol-based such as peppermint is much better. What is great about it is that it can be grown in most climates, so you can actually grow it on your own.

The method involved for treating acne with mint is to first of all crush the leaves thoroughly. Then just apply the juicy substance and the crushed leaves mixture to the area that contains the pimples. You should try to leave it on these areas for around ten minutes. The final step is to rinse it off by simply using water.

2) Using oatmeal is one of the best natural remedies for acne :

Believe it or not, using an oatmeal mask works well for acne problems. Trust me, it will look scary once you have oatmeal sticking to your acne infected areas, but it is not as if you will have to walk around all day with this stuff on your body.

To prepare the oatmeal, just add water to it and stir it until it becomes soupy. Apply it to your face for around 15 minutes and then rinse it off.

The major reasons as to why oatmeal works wonders on your pimples, is that manages to clean your clogged skin pores and it will exfoliate the skin. You can also add honey to the mixture and the honey will actually act as a great toner for your skin.

Finding an instant cure for acne is not possible. During the period in your life when you are dealing with acne, you have to find methods that work for you personally. I suggest that you try out the natural remedies for acne before resorting to more drastic systems.

Acne Treatment With Topical Antibiotics

Acne is caused by the effects of hormones on the pilosebaceous unit, consisting of a hair follicle, sebaceous gland, and a hair. The follicle becomes obstructed and an overgrowth of a normal skin bacteria, Propionibacterium acnes, causes destruction of the lining of the follicle. This process allows follicular material to enter the dermis, causing an inflammatory response. For a more detailed description of this process, see What Causes Acne?

Acne Treatment With Topical Antibiotics
Topical antibiotics work by killing the Propionibacterium acnes bacteria. This not only helps reduce the small infections in the pores, but also indirectly keeps the pores open. Topical antibiotics have been around for a while without many changes to the formulations, so I'm giving only a brief summary of each. All topical antibiotics must be prescribed by a health care provider.

Acne Treatment With Clindamycin

  • The most frequently used topical antibiotic for acne
  • Available as a solution, lotion, or gel at 1% strength
  • Applied twice a day to all acne prone areas
  • Generally well tolerated but may cause some irritation
  • Should not be used by people with regional enteritis, ulcerative colitis, or a history of antibiotic-induced colitis

Acne Treatment With Erythromycin

  • Second most commonly used topical antibiotic used for acne
  • Available as a solution, gel, and ointment at 2% strength.
  • Applied twice a day to all acne prone areas
  • Generally well tolerated but may cause some irritation
  • Safe for use by pregnant women

Acne Treatment With Tetracycline

  • Not used very often as a topical treatment
  • Available as an ointment and solution at different strengths
  • Contains sodium bisulfite, a sulfa derivative, and can cause allergic reactions
  • May also cause yellowing of the skin

Acne Treatment With Metronidazole

  • Used frequently for acne caused by rosacea
  • Available as a gel at 0.75% strength
  • Applied once or twice a day
  • Generally well tolerated but can cause irritation

Acne Treatment: Antibiotic

Acne is caused by the effects of hormones on the pilosebaceous unit, consisting of a hair follicle, sebaceous gland, and a hair. The follicle becomes obstructed and an overgrowth of a normal skin bacteria, Propionibacterium acnes, causes destruction of the lining of the follicle. This process allows follicular material to enter the dermis, causing an inflammatory response. For a more detailed description of this process, see What Causes Acne?

How Antibiotics Work for Acne
Antibiotics work by several mechanisms. The most important is the decrease in the number of bacteria in and around the follicle. Antibiotics also work by reducing the irritating chemicals produced by white blood cells. Finally, antibiotics reduce the concentration of free fatty acids in the sebum, also reducing the inflammatory response. The most frequently used antibiotics for acne are summarized here.

Tetracycline
Tetracycline is the most widely prescribed antibiotic for acne. The usual starting dose is 500 mg twice a day continued until a significant decrease in acne lesions is seen. The dose can then be decreased to 250 mg twice a day or discontinued. The main drawback for this antibiotic is that it must be taken on an empty stomach to be the most effective. For a teenage boy who eats frequently, this can be very difficult. Tetracycline should not be given to pregnant women or children under 9 years of age.

Erythromycin
Erythromycin is a very commonly used antibiotic for acne. It has several advantages over tetracycline. First, it has anti-inflammatory properties that help reduce redness in lesions, in addition to killing bacteria. Also, it can and should be taken with food - a benefit for teenagers. The dosage of erythromycin varies with the type used, but it is typically prescribed as 250 - 500 mg twice a day. It can cause stomach upset and nausea, but can be used in pregnant women.

Minocycline
Minocycline is a tetracycline derivative that has been used effectively for decades as a treatment for acne. It is especially useful for pustular type acne. While the absorption of minocycline is decreased with food, it is not as significant as the decrease seen with tetracycline. The usual starting dose is 50 to 100 mg twice a day. Major side effects of minocycline include dizziness, nausea, vomiting, skin pigmentation changes, and tooth discoloration. The skin and tooth changes are seen more often in people who have taken minocycline for a long time.

Doxycycline
Doxycycline is often used for people who do not respond to or cannot tolerate erythromycin or tetracycline. The dosage of doxycycline is started at 50 to 100 mg twice a day. It should be taken with food; otherwise it can cause significant nausea. Doxycycline is more likely than tetracycline to increase sensitivity to the sun, or cause sunburns.

Clindamycin
Clindamycin is very useful as an oral antibiotic for acne, but it is most widely prescribed as a topical antibiotic. The starting dose is 75 to 150 mg twice a day. The major side effect of clindamycin therapy is serious intestinal infection called pseudomembranous colitis caused by the bacteria, Clostridium difficile.

Side Effects of All Antibiotics
All antibiotics can cause candida vaginal yeast infections in women. Tetracycline seems to be the antibiotic that most frequently has this side effect. All oral antibiotics can also lessen the effectiveness of birth control pills,

Lemon juice and rose water for acne

Method

  • Mix equal parts lemon juice and rose water.
  • Apply directly to skin. You might feel an initial sting from the lemon juice.
  • Rinse after 15-30 minutes.

Why It Works

Lemon juice is a natural astringent and mild antibacterial agent. Rose petals, from which rose water is made, also have antibacterial properties. It is a also a skin toner and helps to mitigate the rather harsh, acidic quality of straight lemon juice.

Precautions

Be careful of exposing your skin to direct sunlight if you have been using lemon juice on your face. Also, though a strong reaction is unlikely, do not continue this treatment if it irritates your skin.

Aloe Vera for Acne

There are hundreds of varieties of aloe that grow all over the world. Most have medicinal properties. However, it is aloe barbadensis that is known as aloe vera, the species with the most value as a natural remedy. Aloe arborescens, the fast growing aloe with spiraling leaves, is more common as a houseplant and wild succulent in North America and its gel has healing properties as well but it is less powerful than aloe barbadensis.

Aloe vera as an acne remedy

The gel of the aloe vera plant has a cooling, soothing effect on acne sores. It is also a natural antibiotic.

Method

  • Remove a whole aloe leaf from the plant. Take an outer leaf and remove it as near the trunk as possible.
  • Cut a slit down the middle and allow the yellow latex to drain. The latex has other uses but is not good for irritated skin and might cause inflammation in some people.
  • If you want to use the aloe immediately, use a serrated knife to remove the thick skin. This will take some practice but after a few tries you will be able to remove the skin and end up with a nice thick piece of gel. and rinse the gel under cold water.
  • If you are using aloe arborescens, it is not necessary to drain the leaves. You can open the leaf and apply the gel directly.
  • Cut a piece of the gel and apply it directly to the skin as needed, avoiding the eyes..
  • The gel will keep for about a week if stored in the refrigerator in an airtight container.

Why It Works

Aloe vera gel is good for acne for two main reasons. First, it immediately soothes the skin and is a mild anti-inflammatory. Secondly, aloe vera is a natural antibiotic - it cleans the skin and kills bacteria.

Precautions

As mentioned above, the yellow latex of aloe barbadensis, a thin layer between the leaf and the gel, is a potential skin irritant.

Nettle for Acne

Nettle is the general term for herbaceous plants of the genus Urtica. "Stinging nettle" (Urtica dioica) is the best-known variety and is regarded variously as a garden nuisance, an edible green, and an herbal remedy. Stinging nettle has been used worldwide for centuries as a natural remedy. Drying it or soaking it in hot water removes its inflammatory properties and makes it suitable for handling and ingestion.

Nettle tea as an acne remedy

  • Wear gloves when handling fresh nettle plants.
  • Remove leaves from stems and discard stems.
  • Fill a teapot full of nettle leaves
  • Pour boiling water over the leaves.
  • Steep for 5 minutes.
  • Add honey and/or lemon if desired and drink.
  • The tea will be somewhat bitter. However, it is quite nutritious an especially high in calcium.
  • Dried nettle is also available in tea bags but will not be as effective.

Dried nettle as an acne remedy

Nettle can be purchased in pill form. The pills contain freeze dried nettle and can be taken as recommended. Be sure to drink plenty of water along with dried nettle.

Why It Works

Though fresh stalks cause skin irritation and inflammation, the leaves have anti-inflammatory properties. Consuming fluids also helps to flush the system of toxins.

Precautions

Nettle may cause stomach irritation in some people. Nettle is also a diuretic and should not be taken by nursing women.
